Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - We all get unwanted junk mail, but it's not always safe to pitch it. That's why SpringHill Suites Cheyenne teamed up with A Thru Z Document Destruction Friday for a Shred-A-Thon Fundraiser.

For a $5 donation, folks could protect themselves from identity theft by having their unwanted documents shredded.

"A lot of people don't realize, but we're in a part of the country that's very susceptible to identity theft because we're in an area where our interstates cross and we have a lot of transient traffic," said Merrie Elsberry, Owner of A Thru Z Document Destruction.

Money raised from the Shred-A-Thon will go towards the KiliMaji Project, a charity water campaign that builds wells in Rwanda.
