Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - .A four-year-old boy was killed in a rollover accident on US 287 Monday night.
Steven T. Warren, 4 of St. Stephens Wyoming, was riding in a pickup truck with his father, Jerome H. Warren,39 and brother when the pickup went off of the road.
Jerome Warren was northbound on US 287 traveling on icy and snow packed roads. Warren lost control of the vehicle as he was starting to negotiate an uphill grade of the roadway. The vehicle started to rotate clockwise as it went off the roadway on the right side going into the barrow ditch. The vehicle then rolled 1 1/4 times. Neither child was properly restrained in a booster seat or a seat belt and during the rollover event Steven was partially ejected from the vehicle. The cab of the pickup sustained minimal damage and there was no intrusion into the occupant compartment.
Steven Warren was taken to Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie and died later that night.
None of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
Both Jerome and his 8-year-old son were treated at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie and released.
Troopers have cited Jerome for not having the children properly restrained in the vehicle as required.
