Cheyenne, WY - If you are a weather enthusiast and are very interested in severe weather, the National Weather Service of Cheyenne is continuing their annual Severe Storm Spotter training events.
You may be asking yourself "Do meteorologist really need my help?" Yes, yes we do! Even with all the tools we have at our disposal such as satellites, weather models and radar we still have a very difficult time knowing exactly what is happening at the ground. This is where your reports can help significantly by providing ground truth to what we see on our radar screens.
At the Storm Spotter Training sessions you will learn the basics of thunderstorm development, storm structure and what to look for when looking at storms.
Meteorologist from the National Weather Service will teach how to report severe weather and basic severe weather safety through a multimedia presentation which includes video.
If you've always wanted to become an official storm spotter, learn more about severe or even listen to an interesting talk on severe storms, then you'll want to attend.
The sessions run approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours long, are free and open to the public. No prior experience is needed and everyone is encouraged to attend.
