Suspect and victim's name released in Hawk Springs shooting and chase incident

Torrington, WY (KGWN) - On April 26, 2014 at about 8:09 pm, Deputies from the Goshen County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the Emporium in Hawk Springs, Wyoming for a reported shooting. When Deputies arrived, they found one victim, Timothy Toedter of Hawk Springs, Wyoming, with a gunshot wound being attended to by medics from the Hawk Springs Fire Department. Deputies soon learned the suspect had fled the scene southbound on US Highway 85. The victim was transported by medics to Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol apprehended the suspect north of Cheyenne, Wyoming on US Highway 85 and he was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. The suspect has been identified as William Schlager Jr., age 52, of Ft. Collins, Colorado.

The shooting in Hawk Springs, Wyoming is currently under investigation by the Goshen County Sheriff's Office. When the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the Goshen County and Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review of charges.
