Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - On the summer solstice every year, the Alzheimer's Association hosts a nationwide event called The Longest Day to promote awareness of the debilitating disease.

Today, Janet Lewis, the Executive Director of the Wyoming Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association was awarded a cowboy boot by Secretary of State Max Maxfield. Misty Moberg, the Life Enrichment Director at Aspen Wind said that the boot represents Alzheimer's and, "...what people have to go through and to give Alzheimer's the boot"

Susan Connelly, an Alzheimer's volunteer, donated an hour on the Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley to the Aspen Wind Assisted Living Home, so Aspen Wind took some of their residents including 106 year old Lyden Erickson to the state capitol building where Lewis received her boot. The First Christian Church was also on hand to sing a few songs for everyone.
