Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - A Cheyenne man is behind bars after stealing a man's SUV while he was taking a nap in it.

The incident took place Thursday afternoon in the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center parking garage.

According to police, 20-year-old Brenden Keys took a GMC Acadia while a 67-year-old man was sleeping in the back waiting for his wife and sister to finish an appointment at the hospital.

"The man heard someone get into his vehicle and actually start driving away," said Cheyenne Police Officer Dan Long. "The man believed it was his sister that was actually driving the vehicle. Sometime in the middle of town the 67-year-old man actually looked up, realized that it was not his sister driving, and that it was some other male. The man confronted the driver, who then pulled over and let the gentlemen out."

With the help of OnStar the vehicle was located in Fort Collins, where Keys was arrested on possession of stolen property and eluding law enforcement charges.

No one was hurt during the theft.
