Three Thunderbird Athletes move on to the next level

What a beautiful season for signings.
We've seen nine local athletes announce to the world their intentions to play college athletics over the last week.

One of those nine was Abby Spaulding, who was South High School's first ever athlete to receive and sign a Division 1 Scholarship offer.

One of the signees had more important business to get to before he signed on the dotted line.

Cam Johnson asked Rachael Erickson to the prom by having her chose between two baseballs. One with a yes and one with a no. She chose yes.

Cam looked very happy and that is not the only reason. This basketball playing football star and Post Sixer signed on the dotted line today with Colorado Mesa College University to play collegiate baseball.

Kayla Cheney and Shayne Carter of the East Lady Thunderbird basketball team will now be opponents on the hardwood.
Kayla is heading to Northwest College in Powell and Shayne is now a Lady General for Sheridan College

"And just the way I felt with the guys there and the coaches. I really felt at home there and it reminded me a lot of Cheyenne a lot so I think the fact it is away from Cheyenne but I have a little bit of a home feeling there as well is what made me really decide Mesa." Said Johnson right after he signed his letter of intent.

"They're so well put together and always there for each other and the campus was awesome and the team and the coach. Everything I saw when I was there was amazing." Carter said.

"I fell in love with Powell the first time I went up there and I love the girls that play on the basketball team and I love the coach. I fell in love with it." Cheney said after the ceremony.
