University of Wyoming Sees Dip in Private Donations

The University of Wyoming saw a slight dip in private contributions in the last fiscal year but still collected the second-highest amount ever.

For the fiscal year ending June 30, private giving to UW reached $50.7 million. While down from the previous year's record of $56 million, it's still only the second time in the school's history that fundraising has exceeded $50 million.

UW President Dick McGinity says the money is exceptional.

Leading the donors was Hess Corp., which committed $5 million to support the construction and equipping of UW's new High Bay Research Facility for research into unconventional reservoirs of oil and gas.

Halliburton also gave $3 million for the High Bay facility and research.

UW athletics received a record $12.8 million in donations to support renovations and student-athletes.
