Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - With just a few days left before sales begin for the Wyoming lottery, nine winners were announced from all across the state including the grand prize winner Mary Ogg from Sheridan.
"She just kept saying I've never won anything, it was just really fun to be able to give it to someone like that," said Jon Clontz, the CEO of Wyo Lotto.
The drawings were helping kick off the week leading up to the sales of Wyoming lottery tickets. "It's going to take the support of the retailers and the customers to make it work," said Clontz.
The sale of lotto tickets will help keep money in the state. "I feel very good, very confident about what lottery funds can do for a state. I've seen it," said Clontz.
"It gives a chance for our retailers here in Wyoming to keep that business in Wyoming," said Wyoming Governor Matt Mead.
It will also help boost the economy. "To stand up a company in less than a year of this magnitude and then to generate revenue that quickly and have sustained projected revenue for decades is pretty remarkable," said Clontz.
"Its another tool in our tool box to move Wyoming forward," said Secretary of State Max Maxfield.
