Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Some of our most prominent national holidays recognize those in the military, but it's the families and children of military members that also make huge sacrifices.
There will be events held all month around the state to honor youth of military families in their community.
There will be an event for the public and military families held at the Depot on Monday from 6-8 p.m.
April 15th will be "Purple Up Day". Everyone is encouraged to wear purple to recognize kids of military parents.
"I think sometimes it's forgotten that the children have all the same challenges that normal kids have and then they have an additional layer of having a loved one gone, perhaps in harm’s way. So they rise to that challenge and it's important that we as a community recognize that and support them as they do so," said Eloise Riley, Operation Military Kids Coordinator for Wyoming.
