Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - The Wyoming Veteran's Commission is hosting multiple events across Albany, Carbon and Laramie counties this month. The outreach events are an effort to try and reach out to veterans who might need help with applying for benefits, filing other claims, or requesting healthcare along with providing answers and help to family or friends of veterans.
State Veteran Service Officer Vicki Richards will be available to meet with veterans and their families at different "walk-in" events this month. She always encourages walk-ins but also says that you may call her to set up an appointment to avoid any waiting. Her office is located at the Joint Forces Readiness Center in Cheyenne. However, she will be holding many events over the next several weeks, which include:
In Cheyenne at the Joint Forces Readiness Center from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on February 18th and 27th. At the Disabled American Veterans on 1119 Converse Ave from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
In Rawlins at the Rawlins VA Clinic on February 11th and 25th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
In Laramie at the Laramie VA Clinic on February 10th and 24th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM as well as at the University of Wyoming on February 5th and 20th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
In Saratoga at the community center from 9:00 AM to Noon.
Richards says she sees many veterans who feel they don't deserve the benefits but encourages everyone to use the resources available to them because they earned them.
