Cheyenne, WY (AP) - Wyoming's statewide unemployment rate fell slightly over the new year.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reported Tuesday that Wyoming's seasonally adjusted unemployment fell from 4.4 percent in December to 4.3 percent in January.
Unemployment remained well below the U.S. rate of 6.6 percent. Fifteen of Wyoming's 23 counties had declines of a full percentage point or more compared to a year earlier, suggesting ongoing improvement in the state's economy.
Sublette County had Wyoming's lowest unemployment rate in January, 3.6 percent, followed by Converse County at 3.7 percent and Campbell County at 4 percent.
Lincoln County had the highest unemployment, 7.1 percent, followed by Fremont and Johnson counties, both 6.6 percent. Teton County had the most-improved unemployment rate over the year, declining from 6.4 to 4.7 percent.
