Wyomings Middle School National team practices for Duals

With the school wrestling season over, middle school wrestlers now will move onto the AAU season.

First up the Middle School National Duals.

Wrestlers from across the state practiced at East High School today before they head out to Des Moines, Iowa for this weekends national dual.

The dual consists of 46 teams from through out the United States.

The top 2 wrestlers by weight class qualified for the team.

Four local Cheyenne kids are the team. Gunner Bartlett of McCormick Junior High School, he will wrestle at 125

Preston Duran in the heavy weight division, Jake Fogg at 152 and Tommy Neal at 135 are all from Carey Junior High.

And one Torrington wrestler made the team and that is chase Dominguez.

They practiced at east and the officials brought in former Wyoming All-American nominee Alfonso Hernandez to coach the kids before they got on the bus and head to Des Moines.

"It's great. Every year we try to bring somebody from the University of Wyoming over to work with the kids. The university serves as a great ambassador. the kids really look up to them. I know they are really appreciative of it."
"It's really beneficial for our kids to leave the state of Wyoming to see what's out there throughout the country. there's a lot of different styles they will see and different levels of intensity." said Dave Bartlett who is the Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association Chairman.

Wrestling starts Saturday and we will have updates on the team Saturday and Sunday night at ten
