The Redwood Lounge is hosting a Thankful Thursday Fundraiser
for BDAR April 9th. The event starts at 4PM
Cheyenne, Wyo. (KGWN) Black Dog Animal Rescue has a mother and her puppy available for adoption. The two have to be adopted as a pair because of a close connection. The mother, Tinki, came to the shelter sick and pregnant. After losing her other puppies, Angel was the only puppy to make it. Tinki does not get along well with other dogs or cats but gets along great with all people.
To adopt these pups, or for more information, contact BDAR at (307) 214-6600.
BDAR is also proud to announce a new program, Playing for life. In December, BDAR was invited to attend an ASPCA-sponsored training at the local animal shelter. According to the Maddie’s Fund website:
“Playing for Life! is a nationally recognized program used in over 55 organizations across the United States. Developed by Aimee Sadler, the Director of Training and Behavior at the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation in New York, it features daily canine play groups as an assessment, enrichment, training and adoption enhancement tool.
With this program in place, Southampton, an open admission shelter, has been able to maintain a canine live release rate in excess of 95%.”
BDAR hopes to use the Playing for Life model to provide a healthy environment for our dogs while they are in our care, as well as to educate our foster homes about dog behavior, and as a tool to assess temperament and personality to help provide better adoption matches. Given our lovely, temperamental weather here in Wyoming, we’re hoping to accommodate play groups up to two or three times per week, weather permitting.
