(AP) — A snowstorm packing heavy snow and strong winds interrupted travel plans and brought a temporary halt to spring weather in a large part of Wyoming on Sunday.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation reported many roads and highways in the eastern two-thirds of state were slick with snowfall.
A 25-mile stretch of westbound Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie in southeast Wyoming was closed Sunday afternoon because of winter conditions and accidents.
As much as a foot of snow fell in the mountains of Big Horn and Fremont counties, while most lower elevation areas received less than 6 inches.
The National Weather Service expected the storm to move out of the state by Sunday evening, with more spring-like weather returning Monday and Tuesday.
