Operation Back to School Still Collecting Supplies

Cheyenne, WY (Release) A coalition of community organizations and businesses is working to ensure low-income students start the school year prepared and ready to learn. Volunteers are seeking school supply donations for the 24th annual Operation Back to School (OBTS) supply drive for students throughout Laramie County.

Those interested in giving supplies may drop them off at donation bins located at Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power, Element Church, F.E. Warren Air Force Base Education Center-Embry Riddle Office, Laramie County Community College, Laramie County Library, Laramie County School District 1 Administration Building and Needs Inc.

Monetary donations are also accepted. Please make checks payable to: Needs Inc., Attn: OBTS. Distribution for kindergarten through 12th-grade and college students will take place at the Back 2 School Bash, Aug. 16, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., by the Lions Park Amphitheater. Supplies will be available throughout the year at the Cheyenne Needs Inc.

Needs executive director Barbara Fecht said, “I’m looking forward to providing such a wonderful service to the community.”

Members of this year’s volunteer network include Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power, Element Church, F.E. Warren Air Force Base Education Center-Embry Riddle Office; Laramie County Community College, LCSD1 Community Relations, LCSD1 Instruction and Needs Inc.

Last year, OBTS helped hundreds of income-qualified students and numerous households. Emergency supply boxes were distributed to all LCSD1 primary and secondary schools, which served approximately 150 students.
