Cheyenne, WY (Release) The “Big Pigs” are coming back to Cheyenne– The 8th Annual Cheyenne Kiwanis “Rib Fest 2013” will take place at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza, Friday through Sunday, August 15-17. Professional world champion barbecue teams will compete for trophies and cash prizes while offering their specially prepared foods to the public.
This year’s Ribfest will include five rib cooking teams, including a local competitor. The cooking teams include:
Desperado’s BBQ -“Lick My Ribs”. Voted “Best Ribs” Cheyenne Rib Fest 2007, 2008, and 2013.
Rasta Joe’s - Rasta Joe’s is considered by many to be one of this country's top BBQ chefs, Rasta Joe continues to win National Rib Cook-Off competitions from Coast to Coast.
Johnson’s BBQ -“Best BBQ Sauce in Reno, Try your luck with his “Thermal Nuclear BBQ Sauce” you will need to sign a waiver before tasting this sauce.
Hickory Road – The new Pig on the block making their first time appearance at the Cheyenne Rib Fest.
Mitchell’s BBQ –Mitchell’s BBQ is Cheyenne’s local rib cooker. Mitchell’s BBQ is “Bad to the Bone,” and proud to be top pig in Cheyenne since 1999. They were chosen as the Cheyenne Rib Fest People’s Choice in 2013.
Friday Hours: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Activities: BBQ ribs, side dishes, Corn Roaster, Wyoming Kettle Corn, Chicago Dogs, Kona Ice, Fullers Funnel Cakes and other delicious treats.
