Cheyenne, Wyo. (KGWN) StepUP Cheyenne is challenging residents to walk 10,000 steps per day in an effort to lose weight and get healthy. As a community Cheyenne lost more than 2,200 lbs in 2013.
The cost to participate is $10. This cost includes a pedometer for the first 1,200 participants, access to SteUpCheyenne.com, money saving offers and a chance to win prizes including $2,500.
Registration for the event is set for Thursday April 17, from 4-7PM and Friday April 18, 6:30AM-1:00PM. The registration event will be held at Storey Gym, 2810 House Ave. Cash or check can be accepted for the $10 fee. Blood draws will also be available for $30, on Friday from 6-10am (please fast). An official weigh-in is required but your weight does not have to be shared with the public.
Following registration is the weight loss challenge which lasts for 10 weeks. Participants are challenged to lose weight by walking 10,000 steps or more per day. Weight loss and body fat loss will be measured by the percentage lost.
Prizes will be awarded throughout the challenge and after the final weigh-in on June 26.
The challenge wraps up Thursday, June 26 at 6PM in Lions Park
with a walk/run event of10,000 steps equaling about five miles.
