Cheyenne, Wyo. (KGWN) KCCO, Keep Calm and Chive on. Maybe you've seen the logo or slogan around town, on the internet and on shirts. You may start seeing more of it across Cheyenne because there is now an unofficial Cheyenne Chapter.

The origin is derived from "The Chive". What's a chive? What does the phrase Keep Calm and Chive on mean? Everyone has their own interpretation, About.com has this dentition:

While the KCCO expression first started in World II, KCCO is now a modern slang expression in the same way 'Hang Loose', 'Be Cool', 'Live and Let Live' were popular in decades past. KCCO is a youthful and modern way way to say 'don't stress too much about life, just enjoy it'.

About.com goes on to say the British government used to post propaganda posters with the phrase "keep calm and carry on" during World War II.

No matter origin of the phrase three Cheyenne residents hope to bring "The Chive" culture to the Capital City. In the new year Jamie, Manny and George created a Facebook page, "Cheyenne Chive". The three have a strong belief that through good times a community can be created to help benefit those in need. A large part of the Chive culture, according to these three, is giving back.

On Saturday April 12th, the three founders of "Cheyenne Chive" have partnered with Tusker Bar to host the first meet up. Although an unofficial chapter of the Chive, the group plans to raise money during this event with proceeds going to Chive Charities.

Chive Charities is dedicated to championing the underdogs. Among the causes the charity focus on are disabled and sick individuals with rare medical conditions, disabled veterans in need of quality of life enhancements, underfunded special needs education initiatives, and organizations that provide emergency assistance / disaster relief.

On April 12th Tusker Bar is offering drink specials to those sporting Chive gear. There will be raffles and giveaways. Everyone 21 and up in the community is invited. There are even free cab rides home. The creators of Cheyenne Chive encourage everyone to become a part of the Chive community.
