Overcome the fear of falling and live a stronger, healthier, more independent life! The parts of this eight-week program include development, healthy living and social activity.
Moving for Better Balance is a falls prevention program that uses the
principles and movements of Tai Chi in helping older adults improve their balance and increase their confidence in doing everyday activities.
Lead by a Tai Chi trained instructor, the program focuses on improving functional ability, especially balance, to reduce fall related risks and fall frequency.
The program uses eight forms that have been derived from
the traditional 24 form Yang style of Tai chi, and progresses from easy to more difficult.
Participants increase their self confidence, gain a sense of achievement, and improve their well being in a safe environment.
The supportive network of friends formed in the Moving for
Better Balance program fosters a strong sense of belonging and
leads to empowered, independent living for older adults.
