CHEYENNE, WY - We have some bad news for Longmire fans.

The A&E Network has decided to cancel the Wyoming-based series due to low ratings.

For those who aren't familiar with it, Longmire is about Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire. He investigates crimes in his jurisdiction with the help of his friends. The series is based on the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" series of novels written by Wyoming author Craig Johnson.

Even though it's set here, filming is based out of New Mexico. Buffalo, Wyoming even hosts an annual Longmire Days event in the summer with cast, crew and fan interaction.

A&E says they decided to drop the western drama because ratings dropped during its third season.

The good news is, Longmire's studio is trying to find another network to pick-up the show.
