Firefighters discover body south of downtown Omaha

Omaha, NE (AP) - Omaha police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found by firefighters south of downtown Omaha.

Fire crews were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to battle a blaze near railroad tracks in a wooded, brushy area used by homeless people.

Officials say it's unclear how the person died, but an autopsy has been ordered. Homicide investigators are checking for evidence of a crime.

The name of the person hasn't been reported.
