Cheyenne, WY (AP) - A pair of bills designed to increase the funding and flexibility of the state's Hathaway Scholarship Program are making their way through the state Senate.
Senate File 13 would allow Hathaway Scholarship recipients to use the funds to take up to six hours of summer classes in addition to their fall and spring courses.
Senate File 55 would raise the awards for Hathaway Scholarships by 10 percent to keep pace with the rising cost of tuition.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that both bills were unanimously endorsed by the Senate Education Committee and then received initial approval of the full Senate on Wednesday. They face two more votes in the Senate.
