North Platte, NE (AP) - A 25-year-old Nebraska man has been sentenced to five years of probation and 180 days in jail for his role in a fatal crash near Sutherland last year.

The North Platte Telegraph reports that Micah Koch, of Hershey, was sentenced for motor vehicle homicide on Monday. Earlier this year, Koch pleaded no contest to that charge as part a deal with prosecutors.

Authorities say Koch was drunk when he crashed a pickup on Jan. 27, 2013. A passenger, 24-year-old Korey Huebner, was fatally injured. Another passenger, Jay Shotkoski, was hurt.

Prosecutors dropped a drunken-driving charge against Koch in exchange for his plea.
