Lincoln, NE (AP) - An incoming dean at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was cited in a discrimination complaint in her former position at Central Michigan University.
The Lincoln Journal Star says incoming UNL journalism dean Maria Marron was investigated following a complaint by Central Michigan assistant journalism professor Sara Kubik last year.
The Central Michigan University Office of Civil Rights and Institutional Equity concluded that Marron had created "an unwelcome and hostile environment" as chair of the Department of Journalism at Central Michigan. The office found that Marron violated Kubik's rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
UNL spokesman Steve Smith says UNL vice chancellor for academic affairs Ellen Weissinger remains confident in Marron's appointment.
Marron didn't immediately return messages left Wednesday by The Associated Press.
