Lincoln, NE (AP) - Nebraska Attorney General candidate Mike Hilgers is pledging to work closely with county attorneys and local law enforcement if elected.
Hilgers, a Lincoln attorney, formally jumped into the Republican primary race on Wednesday. He says he has already reached out to county attorneys for ideas on legislation that could be introduced as part of the attorney general's bill package.
Hilgers is third GOP candidate to formally declare his candidacy. The others are Lincoln attorney Doug Peterson and Omaha state Sen. Pete Pirsch. Omaha attorney Brian Buescher is also looking seriously at the race.
Hilgers is a founding partner of Gober Hilgers, a firm with offices in Nebraska, Texas and Washington. He says his experience would help him find creative ways to lower costs.
