Lincoln, NE (AP) - A new Nebraska youth program is seeking local solutions to the problem of food insecurity.

The Great Question Challenge is designed to help high school students address global issues.

Organizers say about 15 percent of all U.S. households are food insecure, including about 100,000 children in Nebraska. Students will work to find ways to alleviate hunger and increase nutrition in their hometowns.

The program is sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension, the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program and DuPont Pioneer. An April 5 workshop at UNL will educate students about food insecurity and provide networking opportunities.

Registration is open until March 28.
