Oxen Hill, MD (CBS) - Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha says its handcrafted replicas of Union Station and Central High School have been stolen, along with more than 50 birdhouses, and it's offering a $1,000 reward for their recovery.

The items were stolen from an offsite self-storage unit between March 22 and March 24.

Omaha police are investigating the theft.

The Omaha World-Herald reports ( that the replicas of Union Station — now known as Durham Museum — and Central High School were made by Applied Imagination. The national company makes botanical architecture out of natural materials like tree bark and gourds.

The collection of one-of-a-kind birdhouses are made of state license plates and represent each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
