Fremont, NE (AP) - The polls have opened for Fremont voters who will decide whether to repeal a local ordinance that bars immigrants from renting Fremont homes if they don't have legal permission to be in the U.S.
Dodge County officials say the voting will end at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Critics of the 2010 ordinance in Fremont say it is less effective and more costly than anyone expected and is damaging the city's image. Supporters say Fremont needs to take a stand against illegal immigration.
The law passed in 2010 with 57 percent of the vote.
