Lincoln, NE (AP) - A member of the Nebraska state auditor's staff has joined the race for state auditor.

Republican Larry Anderson said Thursday that he will seek the job held by his boss, State Auditor Mike Foley. Foley can't seek re-election because he's running for governor.

Anderson says his experience as a state auditor and a Nebraska Army National Guard officer makes him an ideal candidate for the job. Anderson has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

He says he would like to see a greater connection between taxpayers and the office, which keeps Nebraska taxpayers informed on how funds are being handled or mishandled.

Sen. Charlie Janssen of Fremont is running in the Republican primary. Sen. Amanda McGill of Lincoln is running as a Democrat.
