City officials say there was no wrongdoing in the shooting of a bull bison in the city's Cody Park last month.
Mayor Dwight Livingston said earlier this week that because the shooting was done for authorized city business, there was no violation of the city's ordinance outlawing the discharge of firearms inside city limits.
Livingston and City Administrator Jim Hawks also said that written guidelines for animal procedures in Cody Park would likely be adopted.
Parks Superintendent Lyle Minshull has said the bison was getting older and being aggressive toward other bison. He asked an individual with his own bison herd to shoot the animal on Jan. 28.
