Casper, WY (AP) - The Wyoming Highway Patrol says two men were seriously injured after a tractor-trailer carrying cattle crashed into a pickup truck.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that it wasn't immediately clear how many of the 71 cattle died in the crash Thursday afternoon on West Yellowstone Highway.

The tractor-trailer appears to have T-boned the pickup before flipping on its side. Trooper Doug Beran said the driver of the cattle truck had to be cut out of the cabin.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital but their conditions weren't known.

A number of people with cattle trailers and people wearing Casper College Rodeo jackets helped emergency responders remove the surviving cows from the wreck.

Dead cows were removed through an opening that was sawed into the top of the flipped tractor-trailer.
