FORT LARAMIE, WY - Fort Laramie National Historic Site will hold its annual “Moonlight Tour” on Saturday, August 9th, 2014, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Traditionally, the “Moonlight Tour” is one of the fort’s most popular summer events. During this special program visitors will encounter many of the characters associated with the rich history of Fort Laramie. Marla Matkin will once again headline this event with her presentation entitled “Three Trails and the Pony Express”. After a brief intermission tour guides will take groups of visitors through a series of vignettes depicting life at Fort Laramie in the 19th century.

The park encourages visitors to bring a flashlight and suggests that they bring mosquito repellent. It is also recommended that visitors also bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on for the first portion of the program. A limited amount of seating will be available.

Additionally, an emigrant and soldier’s encampment will be present throughout the weekend during the daylight hours. Living history demonstrations and presentations will be ongoing from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday the 9th of August and from 9:30 a.m. until noon on Sunday the 10th of August.
