Casper, WY (AP) - Terry Burgess, of Sheridan, has been named the next president of the Wyoming High School Activities Association board of directors.
Burgess is Sheridan's assistant superintendent for instruction and human resources.
He was approved as president-elect of the WHSAA on Tuesday during the organization's board meeting in Casper.
Burgess previously held the position of president in 1997-98.
He tells the Casper Star-Tribune that the appointment was a surprise because no one had spoken to him beforehand about the job.
Meantime, WHSAA Commissioner Ron Laird had his own contract extended an additional year on Tuesday.
