Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - CRMC is getting an important grant that will help them detect lung cancer.
They received the $70,750 grant Tuesday.
It came from the Whedon Cancer Detection Foundation in Sheridan.
The money will allow Cheyenne Regional to give lung screenings free of charge or at a very low cost.
"Southeastern Wyoming we're really excited about it because there's a really high level of lung cancer in this area due to the natural uranium found in the soil and the water so for us to be able to have this opportunity for our community, it's a great opportunity and we're excited about the partnership," said Wendy Fanning, Grants Director for the CRMC Foundation.
The money will be used for screenings starting in the next few months.
