Cheyenne- Governor Matt Mead has signed two proclamations in honor of Summer Hunger Awareness Month and Volunteerism.
"In Wyoming, we have the lowest poverty rate among any state. But, having said that, we have a poverty rate. We have kids and families who are struggling."
Governor Mead hopes the Hunger Awareness Proclamation not only brings attention to the hunger issue here in Wyoming, but also to the successes we've had in fighting it.
Minutes later, the governor honored volunteers, telling them they deserve to be prideful of their hard work, while encouraging others' to get involved.
"By your work, you get to sleep at night and say I have done something today that has provided tangible results to an individual. And that's a wonderful thing for the human existence to have that sense."
