Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - Laramie County Commissioners are looking to add 12 new county jobs for this coming fiscal year pending a vote at the next commissioners meeting.
If approved the county would be adding seven deputies to the Juvenile Detention Facility which would allow them to open up the crisis portion of the facility.
Three positions would be added to the County Planning Department, plus a District Court Clerk and a Chief Coroner.
Total cost of the new positions is estimated to add just over $875,000 to the budget.
"It looks good. Our revenues are up. Things are looking very good in Laramie County, but with that we still need to be cautious. We want to make sure that we're still very fiscally responsible and conservative and this is a conservative budget," said Troy Thompson, Laramie County Commissioner.
If the vote passes at the July 14 meeting, the positions can be filled immediately.
