Cheyenne, WY(KGWN) - The 63rd annual National Day of Prayer was observed at the Capitol rotunda Thursday afternoon. After being led in prayer, Governor matt Mead gave his remarks and read a prayer of his own. He also thanked everyone who'd ever written him a letter or told him that he and his family they were in his prayers.
National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 through a joint resolution in Congress. It calls back to the first prayer called during the Continental Congress in 1975.
In 1988 President Ronald Regan amended the 1952 resolution declaring the first Thursday of May National Prayer Day.
