Cheyenne, WY (AP) - State officials say they're not yet privy to the details of any environmental problems a company seeking to experiment with underground coal gasification in Wyoming allegedly caused with a similar project in Australia.

Gov. Matt Mead spokesman Renny MacKay said Monday that Wyoming officials are trying to learn more about the alleged problems.

The Queensland, Australia, government charges Linc Energy with causing serious environmental harm at an underground coal gasification plant. A Queensland government spokeswoman did not respond to a request for more details.

In Wyoming, Linc proposes to burn up to 2,000 tons of underground coal reserves near Wright to produce several gases including methane.

Linc officials say they dispute and will contest the Australian charges. Wyoming officials say they will hold Linc to a high environmental standard.
