Cowgirl Basketball Faces Nevada on Saturday

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 23, 2014) KGWN-- The Wyoming basketball program will wrap up the week on the road against the Nevada Wolf Pack. The game is set for Saturday, January 25, at 5:00 p.m. It’s the second time in less than a month that the two opponents have faced each other.

Wyoming is 12-4 overall and 3-2 in MW action after dominating 82-47 victory over Air Force on Wednesday night. Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.8 points plus 7.4 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 14.6 points and a team high 9.4 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 13.2 points and Marquelle Dent leads the way with 4.1 assists plus 9.1 points per game. As a team, the Cowgirls are shooting 413-988 (.418) from the field while averaging 41.8 rebounds and 72.5 points per game.

Nevada enters this weekend’s contest with an 8-9 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the Mountain West. Last time out, the Wolf Pack defeated Fresno State, 63-60, in Reno. Danika Sharp leads the way averaging a team high 12.8 points along with 4.4 rebounds. Mimi Mungedi is adding a team high 6.5 rebounds plus 10.6 points per contest. As a team, Nevada averages 71.6 points and 44.8 points per contest.

This will be 16th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 11-4. The last time the two teams met was January 4, 2014 as the Cowgirls defeated the Wolf Pack, 72-64, in Laramie. They are coached by Jane Albright who is in her sixth season with the program.
