East and Central Boys Soccer teams prepare for rivalry game Friday

"Of our 20 guys, 13 of them have never played varsity to speak of, I need some measuring sticks and it is going to come in a pressure situation." said Central Boys Head Soccer Coach Tim Denisson

"You know the thing about soccer, is that have you kinda jump right into when it comes to conference. I guess if you're going to get tested there is no better test to play the team from across town in central." New East Boys Soccer Coach Ryan Cameron said Wednesday.

Ryan Cameron will get his first taste of the rivalry as a head coach for East. Though he was an assistant for the T-Birds for the last 7 years

The new for Central Head coach Tim Denisson is a fairly new team.

The Thunderbirds have only one senior on their roster but are loaded with juniors.

Home field advantage goes to Central for the first match-up of the season.

Starting goalies from each team are back and both are hoping for the shutout on their crosstown rivals.

"That would be a lot of bragging right to all my friends over there. It'd really show who we are as a team." Dalton Hass Easts Junior Goalkeeper said Wednesday.

"I like shutting out anybody not just East. It really means a lot when you can shut out a cross town rival." said Brandon Troudt. Troudt is Centrals Senior Goalkeeper

"It's definitely a serious game. It is our first conference game so we have to do good either way." Tommy Weber said at practice Wednesday.

"A lot of these kids play with the Central soccer players on the Sting select program. They are good buddies but they love to compete against each other." said Cameron

"I know traditionally east will be a sound team. I don't know all of their personnel . Of the ones I do know, I respect a handful of players that played last year as major players in their program." said Denisson

Game time is set for 4pm Friday at Riske Field.
