Lacey led the Golden Eagles in digs with 562 this past season. The Newcastle, Wyoming, native visited the Marshall, Minnesota, campus at the end of April and knew that it was the right fit.
“I was not planning on signing on my visit; but the team, coaches, facilities, location, atmosphere and support of athletics were ultimately the decisions why I signed right then,” Lacey said.
New head volleyball coach Austin Albers said, “Southwest Minnesota State University is getting a leader in Madi, and just an overall great kid.”
Lacey is excited to carry things over from LCCC, as she has encountered a number of coaches over two years here. “Having a lot of different coaches has made me mentally tougher and increased the confidence in myself,” Lacey said.
Madi will graduate in May with a degree in General Studies and plans to study English Education at Southwest Minnesota State University. The Mustangs, a NCAA Division 2 program, finished 24-8 last fall and reached the second round of the NCAA National tournament.
