LARAMIE, Wyo. (Aug. 13, 2014) – Laramie GM Auto Center is adding a new twist to its long-time corporate partnership with University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics by turning it into an opportunity to recognize others, as announced by the school’s multimedia rights holder, University of Wyoming Sports Properties.

This football season, “Hometown Heroes presented by Laramie GM Auto Center”, will be incorporated into all six home football games, beginning with the Wyoming Cowboys’ August 30 home opener against the Montana Grizzlies at War Memorial Stadium. All season long, people are encouraged to nominate a local hometown hero that has made a difference in their communities across the state of Wyoming. Nominations can be submitted online, via the designated icon on Laramie GM Auto Center’s website: www.laramiegm.com/ or at the dealership located at 3600 E. Grand Ave. in Laramie.

Complementing the season-long recognition of hometown heroes, Laramie GM Auto Center is hosting the first-ever Hometown Heroes 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, Sept. 6 held prior to the homestand against Air Force. The race will commence at 9 a.m. starting at Laramie Youth Baseball Annex on Armory Road and will continue on a scenic course through the University of Wyoming War Memorial Stadium Jonah Field with all proceeds benefitting the Veteran Affairs. Entry fee is $20 per person by August 27 or a $25 entry after that date or morning of the race. “What a terrific gesture by Laramie GM Auto Center to leverage their relationship with us to in turn recognize others – individuals who serve in our community that are well deserved of being recognized,” said University of Wyoming Sports Properties General Manager Brad Poe. “They’ve been an outstanding corporate partner for many years, and we’re honored to have the Wyoming Cowboys be a platform for the Hometown Heroes halftime program and 5K.”

“Hometown Heroes are those rare and unique individuals who inspire others and represent their communities with integrity and honor each and every day,” said Brad Morehouse, Executive Manager of Laramie GM Auto Center. “Laramie GM Auto Center would like to recognize and celebrate these individuals and their selfless acts of courage and humanitarian service by presenting them with an award at each Wyoming football home game.
