Stacey Sams joined the KGWN news team in August 2014. Growing up in Aurora Colorado, she attended CU Boulder where she received her B.S. in Journalism with a concentration in Broadcast News. She also minored in Ethnic Studies.
During her time at CU Boulder, Stacey became involved with CU Sportsmag — a student run television station. There, she gained experience shooting, writing, editing, reporting, anchoring and hosting for the show. She wrote in a variety of genres for CU Independent — the campus newspaper. Later, she joined Colorado Public Television/ Channel 12, The Multi-Ethnic Media Organization, Journalism Diversity Scholars, The National Association of Black Journalists and The National Broadcaster’s Association. These programs gave her the opportunity to travel and meet media professionals while getting involved with the community.
In addition, Stacey interned with CBS4 Denver, Aurora Channel 8 and the Colorado Association of Black Journalists. Through these programs, Stacey worked with experienced storytellers on breaking events, such as the High Park and Waldo Canyon wildfires and the Aurora Movie Theater Shooting.
Stacey has always been passionate about media and has a weakness for celebri-tainment. She loves writing, connecting with people and sharing their stories. Her hobbies outside of news include: traveling, visiting the beach, hiking, going to the movies and doing pilates!
While she explores the Old West, Stacey plans to see all landmarks and historical sites that Wyoming has to offer.
