Samantha Thomas joined the KGWN news team in August of 2013. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Samantha is excited to now call Wyoming home. She looks forward to experiencing all the wild weather this part of the country has to offer.
She received a A.S. degree in Photography from Nassau Community College in May 2009; and just recently graduated from Buffalo State College in May 2013 with a B.A degree in Geography with a concentration in Meteorology/Climatology and a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
During her time at Buffalo State she interned at WKBW-TV in Buffalo, NY, News 12 the Bronx/Brooklyn and at the National Weather Service in Upton, NY and Buffalo,NY. She also gained broadcasting experience on campus by co-hosting a weekly weather show on the campus radio station WBNY. She also provided weekly weather forecasts on the campus television channel, radio station and newspaper. Prior to starting at KGWN Samantha was a freelance Meteorologist at News 12 Long Island, NY.
Samantha's favorite weather experience was storm chasing with SUNY Oswego alongside VORTEX 2 in May 2010. She loves storm chasing, because it allows her to combine her two passions, weather and photography. She hopes to be able to chase again during her time out west.
When she's not talking about the weather she enjoys being outdoors; going to the beach, camping, hiking and skiing.
