Rylee DeGood joined CBS NewsChannel 5 in May 2010.
Rylee grew up on a farm in St. Francis, Kansas. It was her dance teacher who inspired her to become a reporter, knowing that her love for people and for learning would serve her well in the field.
She attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in photography and graphic design. There, she was a part of the campus news station, "Bear News" where she was the all around "backpack" journalist, reporting, anchoring, and producing for the newscast.
Rylee first fell in love with the news during her internship at 9News in Denver Colorado. It was the interesting people they met and the adrenaline rush felt with the research of each new story that assured her that she was in the right career. The following year she did an internship with Northern Colorado 5 in Fort Collins, the sister station of CBS NewsChannel 5.
Rylee was the chief editor and co-producer of MORxE, an internationally awarded documentary about prescription drug abuse in young adults. The film received a Platinum 2010 Hermes Creative Award and has been entered into several other competitions.
In her free time Rylee loves to go exploring with her camera, finding the beauty of where ever she is. She also loves spending time with her family and friends and curling up with a good book.
