Let the Festivities Begin

This weekend is homecoming in Laramie but the festivities are set to begin Thursday.

This year's homecoming theme is "Wanted: Cowboys of the West".

On Thursday, events include a speech by Governor Matt Mead and an 80's themed homecoming dance. Governor Mead will be the keynote speaker at the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences annual Keith and Thyra Thomson Honors Convocation. That will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. The "Blast from the Past" Fashion Show and Dance starts at 8:00 p.m. Come dressed in your 80's gear.

Friday, is the ASUW Pig Roast at Simpson Plaza. It's free and there will be music as well. The pig roast is from 11 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. Later in the afternoon Former President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, is set to speak in the Arena Auditorium. This event is also free and open to the public. He will be talking about his experiences during the Cold War.

On Saturday, the  parade starts at 10 a.m. at ninth and Ivinson Street.  Then come out and support the UW football team as they take on UNLV. Kick off at Noon.
