
Cheyenne is home to some outstanding teachers, but one has been nationally recognized for her special "gift" she shares with young minds every day.
Miss Esquibel from Davis Elementary School, has received the Horace Mann Award. She attended the NEA Foundation's Salute to Excellence in Education gala in Washington, D.C. on February 10th. Esquibel was one of five teachers from across the nation to win the award, along with $10,000.
"Lisa has taught in a broad array of settings and demonstrated creativity and innovation in each," said Kathryn Valido, president of the WEA. "From her first days as a teacher, Lisa has been an advocate for teachers and our profession. Lisa is a passionate, hardworking, effective educator and leader."

She earned a Bachelor of Arts from UW in 2001 and an English as a Second Language Endorsement in 2010.
