A 44-year-old man from New Mexico was in court Friday for his alleged involvement in the Hitching Post fire.
A large part of the historic Cheyenne hotel was destroyed September 15th, 2010.
According to a news release by the Department of Justice, Robert Rodriguez of Albuquerque, N.M. faces a two-count indictment charge "that Rodriguez maliciously damaged and destroyed by means of fire the Hitching Post Inn and that Rodriguez used fire to aid and abet mail and wire fraud."
Court records show U.S. District Judge Nancy Freudenthal of Cheyenne on Thursday sealed the complaint against the man as well as supporting documents in the case. The prosecutors' statement says the man appeared in court in Cheyenne on Friday and was ordered held without bond.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is leading the investigation with assistance from the Cheyenne Police Department and the Cheyenne Fire Department.
