FBI Looking for Impersonator in Cody

Law enforcement is requesting the public to be aware of a male possibly impersonating an FBI agent in the Cody, Wyoming and surrounding areas.

Due to the recent child abduction and the influx of FBI agents in the area, the Cody Police Department has received complaints of a male knocking on residences and asking for personal information not related to the child abduction.

The male is described as white, approximately 40 years old, approximately 6', 200 lbs., with very short brown hair. The male was wearing blue jeans, a grey sweatshirt, brown shoes and had black sunglasses. The person "flashed" a badge. The person was last seen driving a maroon 4-door SUV.

The pubic is asked to be careful with giving out personal information and should ask to look at the investigator's credentials, which will include of a photograph of the investigator, prior to answering questions.

While it is important to cooperate with law enforcement officers, the public needs to be aware that someone is possibly taking advantage of the situation for personal gain. Impersonating an FBI agent is a felony and may result in a sentence of incarceration in a Federal penitentiary.

If confronted with suspicious activity, the public is requested to take down the name of the FBI agent.
